The most beautiful cemetery - Vester Kirkegaard

I know it sounds kind of creepy, but I really like Vester Kirkegaard (West Cemetery).
It's really peaceful and beautiful, and not creepy like the ones I grew up nearby. They were small, old and scary and I would never ever go in there. I used to be terrified of cemeteries, maybe because of the IT and Poltergeists movies, which for me was the most frightening movies ever when I was little - and then of course the Pet Cemetery movies.
I don't live near the cemetery anymore so it's not very often I go there but not too long ago I went and took a lot of photos, mostly because I've been needing some background references with snow and trees - and there are lots at the cemetery at the moment :) I've posted a few photos so you can see what I mean.
These beautiful trees covered with ivies; I really love them, they are magical and I hope to be able to draw them well sometimes when I dare to.

A beautiful place. I've still got to get some artistic use out of all the photos I took in Highgate Cemetary.

It really is, though it was pretty cold for my feet :) Gordon, I am sure you will put them to great use.

My German teacher in high school told me that in Germany (I know you're in Denmark, but Europe occasionally melds together in my mind..) anyway, that the cemeteries are more like parks where people actually go to walk and stuff. I thought that was so neat, rather than think of them as creepy or what-not. Anyway, so it doesn't surprise me that you've found such a beautiful cemetery.. :)

Kassy, the cemeteries I have been at around Copenhagen has all been very beautiful and definitely more inviting than I would normally think when speaking of a cemetery. I haven't been to other cemeteries in Europe but it could be general. I too think it's nice it doesn't have this weird scary feel to it. In summer time I would often see people sitting at the benches and just relaxing. It is such a peaceful place in the middle of the big city. We also have other large parks to break the big city life a bit, one is Kongens Have (the kings garden) which is absolutely beautiful and very well visited as soon as it's a bit warm outside :)

Hi Zindy! very interesting post!!! Honestly, to say - I don't like cemetery's place, maybe because there is very scared, especially night or maybe I watched very more films and cartoons about it (Scooby-Doo)!!!?? :) but your pictures is very beautifull, I like very much too, when on trees is snow!
