Dark Hope - part 2

I worked 3 more hours on the drawing. I am watching Angel, the first season at the moment. We bought the DVD box set some months back and it's really great watching them all over again, it was such a great show back then... same with Buffy. I like drawing with some kind of back noise even when I mostly listen to the series and only watch a bit.
Anyway, still a long way to go with the drawing but I will get there eventually, I very much love working on it.

Dark Hope - The Beginning

Edit Post
Today I started a new drawing, back at my normal size paper. I am about 4 hours into the drawing by now and it's going to take quite some time to complete. I have to admit I love working on it. It's based on the beautiful photo of Lisa: http://blackbutterflylmk.deviantart.com/art/I-feel-you-on-my-fingertips-109789305?q=&qo=. I saw her photo some time back when she was entering my previous Butterfly Contest and fell in love with it. Something about the mood and the cropping of the photo. I am glad I started the drawing.
I am working with a completely new base skin colour, I've been very tired of my old flesh colour from Faber Castell as it had a too pinkish tone, and when scanned it got even worse. I think this new skin tone colour is very natural and I love it so far.
My main goal with the drawing is to convey the emotion and get a new kind of realism with colour pencils. It's never been easy for me to achieve that with this medium though I love working with it.
I will try to post updates as it progress.

I am back from nearly a week at my parents place. Again I just enjoyed the sunshine, animals and being with family, I really need it these days. I only did a few drawings, small ACEO’s, I realized one of the best things about them are how handy and easy they are to bring with you.
When I returned home I got a pleasant surprise from one of the winners of my previous Butterfly Contest at DA, a cute bracelet, with my favourite colours. Thank you so much Lisa; I love it! It's hard to see but there is a small butterfly attached to it as well =)

My very first ACEO. Made with colour pencils on Lana drawings paper (150g/m2).
2.5x3.5" | 64x89mm
The image you can see on the screen, is actually a little bigger than the original size, just showing how small it really is...
I've decided to put my first ACEO ever up for auction on Ebay :)
You can follow it here:
Have a great weekend everyone, it's supposed to rain here so for me it will be a cozy and creative one with my love ♥

Awakening Spring Fairy

Edit Post
My new fairy is one I have been working on for a while. It’s special to me in the sense that I love spring and cherry blossoms. They somehow remind me of something safe and beautiful, something new yet familiar and peaceful. I wish spring could remain for longer and sadly cherry blossoms always disappear so fast. Nothing is more beautiful than the early spring where everything starts to live again. I often connect spring and fairies, as I can imagine all the little fairies awakening and starting to bring life to nature.
Made with Caran D'Ache grahite pencils.

Because I got such great feedback and motivation when I was struggling with the wip I am giving away a free bookmark + a postcard of Ivies Girl. All you need to do is write your name, where you live (again just because I am curious who follows my work). You are more than welcome to mention why you like it to.
The give-away will last until July 1st, post your comment before then and it might be you getting it :)

Everybody's Leaving
Wouldn't it be great living in a world where people you loved and cared about didn't leave but stood by your side till the very end?
...but people always leave.
Thanks to Bina for the beautiful pose: link
Made with soft charcoal.

Ivies Girl finished

I finally finished the wip I showed you last month, some time back.
There is just such a big difference on scanned and photographed artwork. Too bad you can't get something in between, the clear full colours from a scan and the natural skin tones of a photograph. I've decided to post both to show the difference.
Scanned Version:
Photo Version:
The drawing is done with soft pastels and measures 16x11 inches (40x30cm)
Modeled after a photo of Debbie who were kind to do a little photo shoot for me especially for the purpose. This is the 4th girl in the Flower Girl series.
