A little update

I haven't been much online lately, let alone blogging. I've been busy preparing a bunch of illustrations for an upcoming book about witches in different cultures. It's a great project and I am truly enjoying the process. My illustrations are about a Navajo and I am very much into it as it's a bit different from what I usually do. I can't wait to release the drawings.

I have another project for a children's book which I can't tell much about till it's released but it was a bit demanding since it was a child and it wasn't the type of work I usually do.

I look forward having these projects done and continue some of my own projects for the year.

I hope you are all well. I have some new drawing materials updates very soon as a bit changed this year and I am working on a couple of new tutorials.

Winter Poetry

I am happy to be able to show you the final version of Tate, the drawing is named; Winter Poetry and is the 3rd in the Winter series. I think he got that dreamy thoughtful expression.
I worked a lot more on it since the wip I showed before Christmas on my blog. I darkened his clothing quite a bit and added more shading to his face, skin and hair. Finally he's all done and a drawing I am happy with.

I'm happy and rain

I'll keep it short; I am really really happy today. I already feel so much better this year. I feel hopeful, loved and peaceful. I think it's going to be a fantastic year.

It's been raining pretty much since the year began, and I really love it. It gives me much inspiration and a feeling of spring even though we are far from spring here.

Tomorrow I have a few new products to show you.

Winter Dreamer

I'm a girl possessed by Winter and snow at the moment, maybe due to the fact we barely had any in Denmark? I really miss it, and want it bad. I need it both for my own pleasure and for photo shoots.. come snow.
This is my latest winter drawing, done partly with a bad bad headache. I feel happy how it turned out, got that magic feel to it. I also loved trying a different tree type, spruce, I think I'd like to try a forest of spruce sometimes.

Personally I can't wait to put 2011 behind me. It's been an emotionally hard year for me. I want to put closure on all the bad stuff happing this year and start the new one with new faith, new energy and once again believe in the best.

Happy Holidays and new drawings

I would like to wish you all Happy Holidays, I hope you get to spend it with your loved ones.
I can't wait for Christmas eve, 2 days before and I am finally in the spirit of Christmas. It's been a busy December for me and I was very happy to complete the very last commission of the year this afternoon.
Now I just want to relax for a few days and do nothing but enjoy life.
I am thrilled my sister leant me her straigthening iron, it's been years since I had my hair straight and I was amazed how long it had gotten as you don't really notice when you have curly hair.

I recently completed Dreary Winter. It's the 2nd in the Winter Series and I used the beautiful Rossana Castellino as model for it. I wanted to keep it in cold colours to get that frosty feel.

This is going to be the 3rd drawing in the Winter Series. I am a bit excited about it seeing as it's a male and a very handsome one. I'm using the son of Michele Ann, an artist friend. I really fell in love with the look of Tate and felt he could easily be melancholic in snow. I am nervous how it will turn out as the details are not full planned, but I will keep it simple like the previous two. I won't get to finish him till after Christmas. When this one is completed I will do the 4th and last one in the series using another artist friend as model.

How do you revive a frozen heart?
A drawing I have worked very intensely on for the past many days. It's close my heart in many ways and is among my most personal drawings this year.

Frozen Heart in progress

This is what I have been working on past days. It's an old sketch I had lying around which were supposed to be completely different. I love how sometimes things end up so entirely different - when drawings somehow take their own form.

I am almost done with her by now and hope to post her tomorrow!♥

My little November vacation

I've been away for a little while. I needed a break from everything and once again I went to visit my family. I don't know what it is but I always feel so relaxed and the stress just goes away after a few days visit. Sometimes I wish I could visit every other day and things might be much easier. It's too bad they live so far away from me.

We celebrated my little niece's 5th birthday, I can't believe it's been 5 years since I held her for the the first time. She's still cute as ever and such a sweetheart. Speaking off, I still have 1 drawing left I want to do of her this year.
Can you believe Christmas is this close and New Year? Only 14 days left of November which is usually one of my most artistic months of the year, somehow it just wasn't this year and the previous year.

Yesterday a bunch of new markers arrived, which was great. Now I can finally get started on the snow fairy I showed a preview of some time back on my FB.

I also received some new false eyelashes, which is for a new photo shoot I am planning. It has something to do with feathers but not in the traditional angel way. I hope I can find time for it this year, if not there is always January.
I hope you have all been well since I was here. I will do my best to update my blog more regular, time just haven't been right lately.

Season of hearts

This is a very special drawing to me.
The model is my cute little niece as you might recognize from my Waiting for daddy drawing.
I wanted to make something special and at the same time refresh my portrait skills. I've always been intrigued by drawing family members, as I always feel the pressure is bigger to make it look just right.

I feel this is my best portrait in a long time, along with Waiting for daddy and it makes me happy to improve in this area, especially since I've always found it hard to draw children.

I like the idea that Christmas is the season of hearts ♥

Happy Halloween

After a week being in bed with a really bad cold I luckily woke up Friday morning feeling much better and prepared for the yearly Halloween Party. We had a little pre-party as previous years, with some close friends, dressing up, eating Sushi and having lots of fun. I never drink and I guess I shouldn't have yesterday either as I got pretty sick meanwhile, probably due to being sick past week too. I don't know why but alcohol always have a very bad effect on my body. I'm not one of these that get over happy and careless. I usually feel much better being myself.
I bought these huge fake eyelashes for last year but didn't get to try them till this year. Thanks to Nihrida for advising me about the glue :)
My girl friend created the crown and the wings while I was in bed sick, I have the best friend :)

I went as an Autumn Fairy. I originally planned to go as Dead/Ghost Bride but the costume I ordered looked horrible so I had to change last minute.

Finally my calendar

I am very happy to tell you my calendar for next year is finally ready and available for pre-order through my webshop. It's expected to arrive in 14 days max.

I've been terrible uninspired to do anything for a while but lately there's been sunshine in my mind. Last night I stayed up till 3 am to complete it. I changed it from my original idea and it's now a collection of both fantasy and gothic works, hence the title; A Gothic Fantasy.
The cover changed from what was supposed to be (you might remember the previews I showed some months back) as it just wasn't working for me.
The design is in the lines of my previous calendars yet different. Each site is in it's individually colour matching the drawing.

The calendar is bigger than normal as it's a different print company this time (Zazzle). Their calendars are really great quality; thick paper and great colours.

Opened up the calendar measures 11x17".
This is the available size if you buy it through my shop. If you buy it at Zazzle you can decide between 3 sizes as well as different spiral colours.

Are you ready for Halloween?

Halloween is just around the corner, it's something I have been looking forward to for a long time. Past years we've made it a traditional to throw a small party with the closest friends. Eating sushi and putting on our clothes together. It's probably one of my favourite days of the year and I can hardly wait this year either :)
I decided to change my dress last minute and I just hope my costume make it in time for me to do a few changes to it. I won't reveal yet what it is but this photo I took a few days ago has to do with it =)

Sunday we went to Tivoli, for their Halloween decoration. It's been a tradition for us to visit every year. It's pretty much the same every year but this time they actually did some cool changes and arrange the pumpkins a little different, the first years I could pretty much tell the pumpkin wagons was placed the exact same spot and it did take a bit of the fun and excitement away. This year was great, it didn't rain and it wasn't crazy cold.
I got a few cake accessories and some extra spider web. I decided to buy some very orange colouring for the topping of the cupcakes I'll be making, as it looked pretty cool with the strong orange, and I imagine with the sprinklers on they should look very Halloween :)

Here's a few pictures from Tivoli, if you get the chance, you definitely should go visit, it's such a romantic and special place.

I love the natural size of the crow, heh. Certainly does not make me adore crow more.

Biggest pumpkin of the year, I think it was almost 230 kg (507? pounds)

Each year we take a few photos a special place in the garden, this was the best one this year, heh. I think it will be fun looking back in 20 years and see the caption of each year.

Waiting for daddy

This little girl is my adorable niece. She's finally at an age where she can pose a bit and it's amazing. She's such a beautiful girl with expressive eyes.
I had her posing looking out the window the last time I visited and the photos turned out really great with the way the shadows fell and her glance.
I hope I can use her a lot for my future work.

I imagine this little girl waiting for her daddy to come home after a long day.

It was a great exercise getting back to portraits. I recently had a lovely commission of an elder man and it really sparkled my portrait mood.

My week + new work

My week didn't turn out as I had hoped. I was sick with migraine for the past 3 days which set me back with everything. Sometimes I just wish I could stop time and breath so deep and peacefully in silence. I feel I can't keep up at times and being behind all the times can be rather frustrating. I am glad I had some understanding customers so I can relax this weekend and catch up with everything next week.

Weather has been incredible beautiful this week, it almost feels like spring, the smell - the feel. Strangely enough when winter is just around the corner. As much I love it it also worries me that things are so strange with our world. It wouldn't surprise me if next week we have strong winds and maybe even snow.

My calendar is still not all completed as I can't seem to kick myself finishing the front cover. Maybe it's due to me trying something all new with mixing medias this week. I'm always very excited when I try something new or re-find my passion for old things.

At the beginning of the week I posted the little ACEO; A Gothic Dream. It was my first time using markers with colour pencils. I really like how it looks as it gives such a nice base for skin. When drawing on grainy paper it can be hard to get the colour pencils to look even, not to mention the scanning. It tends to make things look worse. I miss my old scanner which was closer to the originals.

I definitely think it's something I want to continue doing and testing some more.

This week I drew on my all new fairy work; Winter's Sleep. It's my first big and detailed drawing mixing things. I feel a little proud of it, which doesn't happen very often with me.
She's 40x40 cm | 16x16", created with makers and colour pencils.
She's going in my fantasy calendar, in fact she's the last drawing.

Pale Rose ACEO was a little drawing I did after A Gothic Dream late at night when testing again.

My weekend and little preview of new drawing

A new week begins after an amazing weekend. It's been one of the best weekends in a long time. I spent it with my boyfriend, cooking, putting stuff up (we still got shelves not being up yet and curtains and other smaller stuff that you sometimes postpone for a little too long). It felt good to just do something together. Also enjoyed the beautiful weather here, was a very sunny and a bit windy day yesterday, perfect for a bike ride at the beach.

The weekend also had a lot of drawing and I managed to get half through my last drawing for the fantasy calendar, which means I am very close to the end now and can have it available very soon.
I've decided to sell my calendar through Zazzle this year. It will save a lot of shipping for people in the US and you can decide size and details this way to.

Usually I have them printed at a local printer here in Denmark but think it's time to try something new this year.

This should be a busy week for me, 2 commissions I need completed, a calendar and a special meeting with a lot of cute animals =) Will tell you more soon.

Luminance Colour Pencils

I was recently gifted this set of Luminance Colour pencils from Carah d'Ache. I've had a few singles for some time and it was instant love.

They are very smooth and the colours very intense plus have an excellent light-fastness. I have a drawing in process where I used 2 reds in this series and they haven't faded a bit yet. I used to have a bit of issues with red often fading after some time. It never occurred to me just how important it is to have light resistant colour pencils. I'm still using my other colour pencils as I've always mixed many brands as all seem to have their great colours and put together works perfect.

I highly recommend these for any colour pencil lover! :)

Help me with new cover drawing

I am just about to complete the final 2 drawings for my fantasy 2012 calendar.
This is going to be the cover of the calendar. I originally intended for Snow White to be on the cover but felt I wanted to do something special for it this year.
It's going to be about summer memories, not necessary bad, just that feeling you sometimes have when things you enjoy so much end. It's definitely not about my summer this year as it was not very memorable but just in general when you have a great time and don't want it slipping away.
My first idea was actually to have a carved heart in an old tree and then sky fading out towards the left side maybe with a bit of grass showing.
Maybe I should keep it more simple or add more details to the background. If you have any suggestions to scenery or anything else please share, it might get me some inspiration to do a really nice background.

Mermaid drawing completed

I am very happy to be able to show you the finished version of my mermaid drawing. I lost a bit of interest in it when I started it March this year, not sure how many of you even remember it. However, a customer was very interested in buying her so I thought I should get myself to finish her. Luckily I did and the scan turned out okey, I guess it had a good day.
She's done with colour pencils, background done with pastels. I originally intended a detailed background but as I lost a bit of interest in it I decided to just do water for now.

Here she is finished. I called it June because it was an emotionally bad time for me. I believe I have put the worst behind me now and with Autumn approaching I am positive the rest of the year will be better and happier.
I feel as if the girl in my drawing looks sad but also as if she's dreaming herself away from everything and hide her "emotions" with her hand.

ZindyZone Shop – Now and then

In the fall of 2006 the ZindyZone Shop was officially opened. It started out offering prints.
The prints were all done at a local print company in Denmark and was of great semi-gloss quality.
For a few years this was the only product in the shop.

In 2008 things started changing and there were new products available.
In the fall of 2008 I was able to offer postcards and greeting cards. All printed on thick cardstock with a beautiful glossy finish. They quickly grew in popularity and today
I have over 30 drawings available as postcards.

I had buttons available for a short period of time but I wasn’t 100% happy with the company delivering
them and decided to take them off my shop till I was able to find a better quality else where.
They will return in the shop if I do.

Other product that followed were my magnets and keyrings. The keyrings are all personalized with small charms.

Recently I had Clocks available in the shop as well which took me a year to find the needed materials.

Not too long ago I got a brand new type of bookmark printed on card stock.

I was very happy to be able to sell my own tubes through my shop, which happened summer 2008.
It has been great for me to go independent with my tubes and since then things have been really well.

In 2008 I also released my first art calendars, The Light and The Dark which was a great success.
The best of 2012 calendar has just been released in August through Zazzle.
The fantasy calendar for next year will be released later this year.

There will soon be a few more products available in my shop, which includes large posters of a few of my drawings.
The rest is to be a surprise.

Lazy Afternoons

This was a cat portrait I did earlier this year but just found it in one of my folders recently. I finished her up and here she is. I fell for the cute expression she had and thought it would be a little challenge with the striped fur + I always found short haired cats the hardest to draw.

Black Beauty Cat

This is my latest drawing.
I'd like to get back into drawing cats regularly and thought I'd challenge myself with a close up. It took quite some time to do this portrait but I felt I learned something during the process so it certainly wasn't a waste of time. My favourite part to do was the nose area, the challenge of getting the shine in the fur and little highlights.

I am leaving tomorrow for my parents again. It's only been 14 days since I returned home from my last visit. I hope to spend a few great weeks enjoying the early Autumn there. I really look forward to it, especially to revisit the trampoline :)

I recently did a few gift drawings.

In the video you get a glimpse of my new Halloween drawing, which is rather large and something that took a few days work. I like how it's going so far. I am in such a Halloween mood already =) I think I will be doing quite a few Autumn&Halloween drawings this season.

This is the first time trying to record while drawing a bit (on my mobile). I just received my new Derwent Pencil Extenders, which I was advised to try out by a friend, Ester.
So far they are great, very light weight and thin. However, I haven't worked much with them yet, I'll tell you what I think when using them for longer.

My birthday and more

I've just celebrated my 32nd birthday on the 18th. I had a truly wonderful day with lots of fun. I decided to go visit Tivoli, a world famous family amusement park in the middle of Copenhagen. We always go there each October for the yearly Halloween show. It's a fantastic place as it's very beautiful, filled with flowers and a great atmosphere. This time we actually tried the roller coasters and I loved it. Been 6 years since I last did that and now I wonder why :)
I loved this one in particular, as I love fish... and it was meant for kids so very Zindy-friendly.

My love gave me the best birthday present, a set of Luminance colour pencils. Those are my absolute favourite pencils but I haven't been able to afford but a few singles since they arrived in the Creas art shop. I was obviously thrilled. He also did a cute little drawing card for me, which I love just as much.

Oh he also bought a little strawberry cake, I love strawberries so it was very sweet.

We had dinner at Tivoli at night and it wasn't bad either. Ralf took a few photos of me meanwhile(the one at the top).

Awesome day really, not too bad to get older as long as you have fun.

Today we went shopping new ink and paper and I found a speaker set I could afford (and was my taste design wise) so now I finally have sound on my computer.

And at the very end I am very very close to completing my Autumn Walk. Spend another 8 hours on the forest yesterday and happy to say I only need to complete the top left corner at this point.

Sunlight!?

This morning something strange happened. I was pulling the curtains aside and in came light and sun! Unbelievable. I was beginning to think we'd have no more sun this year! I'm hoping at least we get less rain in a few day when I am celebrating my birthday, just because it's a little easier to look pretty with no raincoat.

I've just finished a tattoo drawing for a beautiful customer of mine. It's been a long project as I couldn't capture what I wanted and had to start over a couple of times. I am really happy it's completed.

Today I am going to work more on my Autumn Walk drawing, I need to finish her real soon for the 2012 fantasy calendar. I have to say the Autumn forest has been a real challenge. Mostly because it feels like you keep drawing on the same area and very little happens. Nevertheless it's a true joy to do this drawing. I've gotten great response on her already (Thank you ♥) and it certainly keeps me going.

My socks

A lot of you have been asking what kind of socks I wear... nah, not really but I thought I would show you anyway ;) I love knee socks, I probably have 40 pairs or so. Today I bought 2 new pairs with stripes. I love the thicker ones for winter time and in this apartment I am going to need them. Last winter it was so cold here as the doors aren't well isolated, as well as the windows. I am going to need many socks and sweaters if we don't manage to fix the doors this year. At least that's my excuse whenever I buy new ones.
While I generally don't enjoy shopping clothes that much, I do love socks :)

When visiting my parents I bought a couple of new mugs. I love the vintage and sweet style of them, and of course it was the heart which did it in the end ♥

The bag is created by my mom, I love it very much, the black butterfly is a perfect touch to it. My mom is so good with these things, I wish she still drew too.

5 years ago I started dating my boyfriend Ralf. I met him for the first time 5 month earlier and already back then I had fallen in love with him. Fate didn't allow us to meet till 5 months later and since then I have loved him with all my heart. We've been through a lot in our relationship but things are finally more peaceful now. We bought a beautiful apartment late last year, it's hard to believe we have already been here for 8 months. I think I finally got that feeling that it's mine and that I belong here, and I feel safe here which I haven't since the accident. In the beginning it always feels like it's not really yours and I didn't hang a lot of stuff up yet. It's a strange interesting process of moving into a new home and actually feeling like it's your home. I am glad I feel that way now, as it makes me able to focus much more on everything else.

The drawing is me and my boyfriend with our symbolic animal. I love butterflies - he loves wolfs. I think in a way the animals represents us as well.
I’ve always seen the butterfly as incredible beautiful(going from rather ugly till something beautiful) but also a symbol of freedom, dreams and possibilities. It’s things I value highly in my life. Though I don’t see myself as beautiful as a butterfly I do love to create and find beauty in everything I do and as such it’s become an important part of me and my work.
My boyfriend is the strong and loyal wolf. He's my rock. He's also the soft, thoughtful man only few get to see.
I think even though at some points we are very different we also complement each other well, I’m the dreamer – he’s the realist...

Vacation Week

A new week has started. Back to normal, which means commissions and a few drawings I need to complete before the release of my 2012 fantasy calendar. I am exited to complete it off. I am expecting something to arrive any day soon which you will like if you prefer my black and white work. I can't wait to show you =)
It's going to be a busy month for me but I look forward to it as it's all something I enjoy doing.
Along with that I have my birthday coming up on the 18th, I can't believe it's so close already. I love this time of the year, not because it's my birth month but because I always like the feel of August. In 2 days it will be 5 years ago I started dating my boyfriend. It's incredible to think about. It's my longest relationship ever, I've always found it hard to stay in love with a person but with him I can't not be in love ♥
I've made something special for him which I will show you after the 10th, can't risk him peeking on my blog and finding out before time :)

Last week I spend with my mom, dad and little brother, Benjamin. I really loved my time there... it always gives me something special when being with them. Everything is so calm and relaxed but yet active.
They live in a very quite area with lots of nature and animals around. It really is heaven if you are into all things nature.
This is Balloo making the cutest sounds when looking at a dove sitting just a little higher than he could reach (luckily). I think he was sitting there for half an hour before he let the little dove be.

I love that dog, he's so adorable and such a sweet dog. Almost like a little baby wanting attention. If he's bored he will come look at you with his cute brown eyes until you play with him.

This time was extra fun as my brother got a big trampoline and certainly got to use it. I was so sore the first days but kept at it, it was hard to resist it, it was seriously so much fun. I also went to visit my brother while he was at work (he manages a high jump trampoline at the Danish holiday centre, Lalandia, which is basically a fun place for families with a small water world, bowling, ice-skating centre, stores and much more.) Anyway I tried jumping for the first time and I could certainly feel my small fear of heights. I guess I am better off deciding how high I can jump on my brother's trampoline.

My mom's 2 cats, Ditte and Boelle were around one of the days, I got a few ok shots of them:

I didn't touch my pencils at all that week even though I brought them... it was a great break, I feel really well ♥

Dark Market 2011

I just came home after the yearly Dark Market. A Danish Gothic market, where a bunch of private people and companies can get a little place to sell their stuff. It's usually fun and relaxing. The Gothic scene is very small in Denmark, so the market is not very big and overcrowded.
This year I introduced my new Clocks, which will be up for sale on my webshop very soon too.
Here's a few photos, as always I am behind the camera but my boyfriend did take a photo of me sitting behind the table and in the car - highlight of the evening: Sunset!!=) Nothing better after half a day without food. A bit blurry mobile photos but at least I have a photo of me to show for once.

It was a nice market, even though there weren't a lot of visitors I met friends and new people so it was a great day!:)
I'm so tired right now. It just starting pouring down, think I will head to bed and listen to the rain.

Night Sky

The evening sky is so pretty here, all purple and pink. For the first time in a while we had a full day of sun.. almost feel strange with all the rain, wind and cold we've had here.

Autumn for my mom

This drawing I started a few days back. It's going to be a dedication to my mom. She loves green and Autumn colours. When I showed her a little version through MMS she loved it and already wanted a print, which really made me feel great about the drawing.
I feel so Autumn as I have already explained so why not draw Autumn too?

It's done in colour pencils again and will be about 30x40cm(12x16").

I have just started working on my 2012 calendar which this year will be a collection of my colour pencil fantasy works from 2010-2011. I think this one will be included as well.

I also planned to have the flower girls series out as calendar in 2012 but am beginning to wonder if I will make it considering I am still not done with all of the girls. I seem to lack the inspiration for them. There's been so much this year with great projects and opportunities and I pretty much haven't done any pastel drawings this year. I think it's been a year of colour pencils, which is definitely rare for me I always work mainly in charcoal. However, the year is far from over and I predict the Autumn and Winter will bring me many darker ideas perfect for the charcoal medium.

All I know is I am in a very dark Autumn-Like mood and I hope it continues a little while longer.

Dead Rose

Lately I've been in a very dark mood. Maybe it's the rainy summer we have here, I almost feel Autumn in the air. When running today I could feel that colder windy weather with a bit of rain.
I seem to mostly do vampire/dark themed drawing when it's Autumn and Winter.
The drawing is done with coloured pencils of all brands.

Unforgivable Sinner

I just finished the last lines on my new vampire drawing. I was contacted by a vampire site recently which inspired me to do a new vampire girl, a theme I haven't worked with for over a year. It's a rather serene drawing with the "sinner" feel in center as oppose to the raw vampire (animal) which is often portrayed with vampires.
I loved showed like Angel and Buffy and the hurt soul of Angel is what I love about the vampire theme it adds something fragile and beautiful to them instead of vampires being cold hearted killers.

The title is special to me. It's the very first song I ever heard of my favourite singer for about 12 years now; Lene Marlin. She has the most beautiful voice, most heartfelt and deep lyrics, to me her music is pure art. If you don't know her you should visit her website and listen to some of her songs and you will know what I mean.
The song has nothing to do with anything vampire though I just found it suitable for this particular drawing.

I wanted to keep my drawing rather light and fading. My first thought was to add a detailed background but as I did the stone cross and the girl slowly came to life I felt it was much better to keep it white and pure.

It's done with coloured pencils, 30x40 cm on the all new Viking Norma drawing paper I bought earlier this week. I highly recommend it for coloured pencils. It's very thick and it scans much better than any other paper I've used for coloured pencils. It's very matte and don't have that usual touch of yellow. If you can, try it!:)

Reference are from a photo shoot with my often used model, Anja-Amanda and the cross is from a shoot I did a couple of years back at Vester Kirkegaard in Copenhagen.

New Drawing Paper + New bloody drawings

Yesterday I went shopping with my boyfriend and found some new paper =) I'm very selective when it comes to paper and am yet to find the perfect paper for colour pencils and graphite. This new one from Viking Norma has such a great smooth matte texture and I had to test it out on both a coloured pencil drawing as well as a graphite drawing, pretty much at the same time. I think it works great with both and it's especially great with colour pencils. It's still not perfect for me but it's pretty close.

I will post the final versions of the vampire and "sad girl in the wind" in a few days when they are both completed, I was just exited to show you already :)

Old drawings refound

I finally went through some of my many drawing folders. I knew I had lots of unfinished larger drawings from when we lived in Østerbro. I almost forgot this one, though at the time I started it I really liked how it was going.

After receiving a lovely message from Nihrida the other day I realised I need to get back to graphite once in a while too. I don't know why I stopped using it, I think I just got caught up in all the other mediums available all of a sudden. Graphite pencils and cheap printer paper were where it all started for me. Very simple yet effective.

I finally started using the drawing table bought some time back. I just realise now I should have had a drawing table long ago. It makes it so much easier to work on these large drawings and I don't have to be as careful bending the edges since I'm not curled up at the sofa.

Colours on a grey day

It's not the greatest day for me, just one of these days you'd like to sleep through.

I decided to pick up on the little doll ACEO's I started some months back. The purple/pink one I did today the others are from some time back.
Nothing big, they are just relaxing to do when you don't want to work on any major drawings.

ACEO stands The ACEO measure 2.5x3.5 inches (64x89mm)for Art Cards, Editions and Originals and are very collectible.

If you are an artists and haven't tried creating an ACEO yet I really think you should, it's much fun and a challenge to get the necessary detail into such little space.

Benjamin and Balloo and so humid

It's so incredible humid here today :/ Even if you sit still and draw it's still too hot. They say we will get colder weather now and less humid - yay for that. Means I can get back to running without dying of heat too, I am so exited to continue where I left.

I started a Gothic Heart Doll Pinup drawing yesterday. I don't know what it is but I have fire in my pencils these days. It feels good. I feel into everything these days, colours, charcoals, pastel... wish I could do it all at once =)
I also want to decorate everything here - definitely means it's spring for me.

Benjamin and Balloo

I did this drawing of my brother some weeks back.
The drawing is special to me as it's of my little brother Benjamin and his Jack Russell, Balloo. It shows a different side that not too many see of my brother, the softer side.

To me he has always been this this cute little baby boy and now he is 17 and I sometimes wonder where time went...
This is a dedication to him, for being so caring, sweet and lots of fun to be around.

I took a photo of him and Balloo late at night some months ago with my phone. It turned out all grainy but I loved the pose and mood so much I wanted to do a drawing of it and give it to him.

My lovely break + Stargazer Fairy

Yesterday I went back home, leaving this lovely evening sun and nature behind. I really had an amazing time. I was able to forget about work for a while and all the many thoughts I had in my head. Sometimes you just need to completely be off the every day life for a while and I surely did. It was great spending time with my mom, dad, brothers and sister. We were all able to spend the first weekend together which doesn't happen very often as we all live far apart.

I wasn't the only one relaxing in the garden:

As I mentioned along with the previews I felt it was a long time since I did a fairy and being Spring here I found it suitable with the spring colours :)

Still enjoying my time here at my parents house. The weather is still great, raining once in a while. I actually found my motivation a bit yesterday =) been a while since I did a fairy so I started this little fairy, she's already coloured a bit by now, she's in blue tones.

This cutie were sleeping next to me yesterday when I was on the phone. It was raining softly but we found a dry spot under a tree. Did I mention how much I love being here?

Black Pearls + Colourful Beauty

Not so long ago I went and bought some new colours, particular turquoise and orange/yellow colours and I don't have a whole lot of these. I've never been very fond of turquoise but lately I've started to see the colour differently. I wanted to branch out from the typical Zindy colours, if you can call it that. It's no secret I love pink, baby blue and basically all lighter pastel colours.
At the beginning of the year when I did With Love and Breathe in Breathe out, I realised how much more dramatic/powerful a drawing can get with brighter colours.

This one I've been working on and off on for nearly 3 weeks. It took a very long time creating the details + I haven't been much in a drawing mood lately. There's been much going on occupying me this month so it does feel nice to have some completed drawings finally.

My second drawing is one I did today. I was very determined this morning, to do a new colourful drawing, using turquoise again. I've gotten a few requests to do a shaped woman and it was nice to actually give it a go. I wanted her to have a beautiful strong face. So many girls (and boys) struggle with weight, sometimes it can feel like an endless battle.

This morning I went to the 2nd meeting with the physiotherapist and it went great. I got great news and some funny exercises to do. I am just happy this can be fixed, who knows, I might be running again in Autumn, you never know =)
Those of you who run knows how much you miss it when you can't do it for a few days.

Anyway, I've been working on something a bit different today, inspired by the weekends events. I took a photo of 2 young people just chilling and I loved it so much I had to create a drawing of it. I wanted it to be very simplistic yet powerful.

In March I started my first full body mermaid drawing (link) and since then I lost a bit of interest in completing it. However, I've picked it up again and am much further with it.
I decided to simplify it a bit since it didn't go exactly as I wished it to.
I hope to have her done soon.

I better go to sleep now, I am so tired.
Tomorrow I start the training and hopefully I will get some great advice how to do better with my back =)

Rainbow Girl

The drawing I started yesterday is done. It's been a long time since I used my pastels, it's been almost half a year. It was great to get back to them, better than I thought.
I wanted to do a happy and colourful drawing, that's why it got pink and with a rainbow.

I've posted both the scanned version and a photograph (the bottom version). Sadly this new scanner is horrible at catching skin tones, it seems to make everything red where as my old scanner would always lack red. It's the same scanner just seem like 2 very different machines.

My morning and afternoon was used on this new drawing. It's been a long time since I used my pastels, in fact it's been almost half a year. I figured it was a good idea to use them again and see where I am at. I often frustrate myself when I use them as I never get it as realistic as I wish I could.

I recently completed the drawing using the beautiful kitten of Robin. She does great photography with her 2 beautiful cats and I am lucky to be able to use them for my drawings.

This got to be one of the best days in a long long time.
This morning I went to see the physiotherapist finally. I went in with the fear of hearing it wouldn't be better and that I would be more and more disabled in time( not being able to run, physical hard work and in the end walking...)
He was quite positive about it all and didn't think my back issue was that bad as I was told. The best moment was when he told me I would most likely run again. 2 years ago I stopped running and needless to say it hasn't been good to me not being able to run or be as active as I used to.
I've always been a girl loving nature and exercise so it felt like I wasn't myself anymore in some areas, as it would bring me down a lot. The couch potato life isn't me at all. However, the past half year especially I haven't been able to walk for longer without my back getting all stiff and with a really bad headache as a result of pushing it. I've been scared of what my future would hold but after today I feel nothing can bring me down.
The thought of being able to run again and being who I was is definitely something to be celebrated.
In 2 weeks I start the training.

I guess this drawing is suitable to publish today:

Yay for my new computer

Today I finally got my new computer in use. It's so super fast I almost can't believe it. I haven't had a new computer since 2004-05 and needless to say it was really slow compared to this lovely girl!:D

I've been updating my Zazzle store the past hour and I managed to add about 40 new products in that amount of time whereass it would take me an hour just to add 5-7.
I can't wait to start using it with bigger files and see how well it works. It's really amazing for me and I definitely am going to cherish her ♥

Oh and what surprised me the most is how fast it turns on. I am used to waiting 5-10 minutes before I can actually use my computer, depending on how good of a day it is. Now it takes about 30 sec top? Waw.

I found this older drawing as I was packing out some folders recently. I think I created it in January but my new scanner made the edges so hard I didn't want to upload it. However, I figured out how to take off a bit of the contrast to make it look much more like the original drawing.

I would love to be able to draw children portraits much better. It's something I haven't done much and I always find it intriguing when I do portraits of my little niece.

My journey with markers continues after returning home from a week of vacation at my parent's.
I received a large bunch of Promakers I had ordered from Ebay just before I left on vacation. They were waiting for me when I got home. They are really great. It's very helpful to have more natural skin tones with less orange in them, it suits me much better.

I can definitely see myself addicted to Markers. They are just so different from what I am used to and I love the line art process which goes very well with my new project. I am ready to reveal it soon, just need the final touch to it and it will be released.

I am happy how the drawing turned out. It was interesting to try the foggy forest with markers, it seems to work quite well.

Another preview of the kitten drawing. I think it's going to be a nice drawing when it's done, the look in her eyes turned out pretty close to what I had hoped. Just a bit more work and it will be done.
I don't think I will ever get tired of drawing that cat, she's so beautiful.

Today it's exactly 1 year ago my friend Lisa and I officially opened the licensing company;DreamScape Imaging. It's been quite a year and I feel happy with all the talented artists being part of this.

For those of you unfamiliar with tubes they are small digital images of artwork where the main image is cropped out and used for a sort of digital scrap booking.

My week away and My new Markers

I was thrilled to get back home Monday evening. My new Pro Markers were waiting for me. I ordered a whole bunch, from Ebay before I left to visit my parents for a week. Last night I tested them. They are really great. It's very helpful to have more natural skin tones with less orange in them, it suits me much better.

I can definitely see myself addicted to Markers. They are just so different from what I am used to and I love the line art process which goes very well with my new project. I am ready to reveal it soon, just need the final touch to it and it will be released.

I had a wonderful time at my parents. It was really amazing to be a week at the country and just relax and have fun with the family. My oldest little brother was visiting as well, it couldn't be much better with our small family all together.
My dad turned 61 the 6th, sometimes I can't believe the time is running so fast.
He loves to cook so his gifts this year was kitchen related :)
I was also able to give him a special card created by Christene, a tagger friend who has a wonderful style. She designed it and I had it printed for him. He loved it very much - he's a big music lover as well. The drawing I did last year as his 60th birthday present, it's fairly large and done with charcoal.

Now that I got all the new lovely markers I might get around doing a little Easter drawing. All the soft pastel colours are perfect for it. My love took the week off so we'll be spending it biking, hopefully in the nice weather, drawing and staying up till late at night and listening to lots of music. I really look forward to this considering we were a week apart. It will be nice to spend some time together doing what we love ♥

This is the adorable Balloo, he's the cutest, we did a lot of running around the garden fighting for the Hippo :)

New Canson Bristol paper review

I finally found some new drawing paper. It's not often they get new types of papers at the art supply store I mainly use. I was thrilled to see it, as it is a very smooth drawing paper type - my favourite to work with.

I've just tested it before I left for my parent's, on a charcoal drawing. It's great, works excellent with charcoal. You need to apply quite a few layers to get it all black but it's great to work with and to blend on. You can see the kitten in process. I will have the finished version when I get back home next week.

I definitely give it 5 out of 5 stars when it comes to using it with charcoal.
I look forward testing it with graphite as well, I imagine it's not quite as good being this smooth on the surface but we'll see.
The paper is thick, 180g/m2 and all white, no yellowish touch.

I was thrilled when Jenea, a friend and reader of my blog, wrote me about Jorge Garcia( Hurley from Lost) posting my drawing of him at his blog. I wrote him last year and sent a print of my drawing of him. It's the only "fanmail" I ever sent as I wanted him to know he made Lost that much better. He was my favourite character and in real life I think Jorge is a super guy. Lots of humour and cool posts, just down to earth and I really appreciate that with any people. when people don't take everything too serious and just value life and take if for what it is - and remember to smile =)
